Sheep Liver – Distomatosis

Animal: Sheep, female, 49 kg, Norwegian Spael breed.

Organ: Liver.

History: The animal was found dead on pasture, with a large root abscess in the second molar of the right mandible. The liver lesion is an incidental finding.

Description: Marked proliferation of bile ducts. Fluke found in one duct, seen in submitted photo. There were no pathological changes in the liver parenchyma.

Diagnosis: Distomatosis, Dicrocoelium dendriticum.
