Innovation and new technologies

The task force mission

Accelerate the transition to veterinary pathologist 2.0
Getting new generations of veterinary pathologists “digitally” ready
Increase the exchange between pathologists and other specialists working with digital pathology (hardware specialists, bio-mathematicians, computer scientists)
Increase the networking between pathologists: ask a peer or ask a specialist

o Work as a hub for support, advise and experience sharing on Digital Pathology, to help us and other ECVP members to adapt these techniques to our routine work and to approach trainees to them.

o Encouraging the use of this techniques with examples from literature, for reaching more accurate analysis

o Re-vamp and re-purpose our existing programme’s part on microscopy technique, and histological technique with a focus on future proof digital quality

  • Sample preparation, the importance of standardization.
  • Fixation and tissue processing artifacts and variation (shrinkage/swelling)
  • Slide thickness and evenness of mounting, optical density of mounting medium etc
  • Staining types: what do they show, how are the chemical reactions, what are the sources of variation

o Approach pathologist to deep learning and artificial intelligence methodologies.

o ECVP provides a meeting point for high-quality data base interchange.

o Sharing experience/support to adapt these techniques to regulatory compliance
