Tribute to Professor André-Laurent PARODI, who passed away on Sunday 15 May 2022

Dear Members,

We learned this Sunday 15th May 2022 of the sudden death of our colleague, peer and friend, Professor André-Laurent Parodi.

Veterinarian, academic teacher and researcher, André-Laurent Parodi was born on August 6, 1933 in Sidi-Bel-Abbès (Algeria).

He graduated from the National Veterinary School of Alfort (ENVA), France and from the University of Sciences of Paris-VI as well as from the Pasteur Institut. He has published numerous scientific peer-reviewed articles, in particular on topic of animal leukemias and lymphomas.

And he was one of the founding members, president (1999-2001) and then honorary member of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists.

He was President of the European Society of Veterinary Pathology (1988).

He was the founder, President and then Honorary President of the French Society of Veterinary Pathological Anatomy (since 1977).

He will remain for us a great teacher, a great researcher and a remarkable pathologist who was one of the main architects of the scientific recognition of veterinarians.

Professor André-Laurent Parodi was honorary member of the ECVP and very attached to our college.

Last year, for the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the ECVP, Professor Parodi kindly agreed to be interviewed. You can view or review this interview under the link below :

Many of us appreciate his great kindness, gentleman behavior, soft skills and pedagogical qualities, the love for his students as well as his willingness and commitment to advance the scientific level of veterinary education.

You will find below a link to access a guestbook on which you can leave a message or a testimonial; it will be handed over in a few days to André-Laurent Parodi’s family.
