In-depth training in canine and feline cytology for anatomical pathologists and histology for clinical pathologists. This training aims to correlate cytology for anatomic pathologists and histology for clinical pathologists, trainees, early-career pathologists and others. Topics include sample collection, slide preparation, and staining, followed by the general approach to a cytology and histology slide, including artifact, non-cellular “background”, and difference in color between cytology and H&E stains. Examples of inflammatory, infectious and neoplastic lesions will be provided. The training will have several case discussions. At the end of the training, veterinary anatomical and clinical pathologists will be able:
To know tips for writing cytology report and comments
To correctly diagnose cytology and histology specimens
To know the correlations between cytology and histology findings, to diagnose tumors, as well
as the news and updates in cytology and anatomic pathology of tumors in dogs and cats
To know how to interpret the results of cytological analysis and to correlate them with the results of histopathology.
