Animal: Cow
Diagnosis: Amniotic plaques, normal finding.
Findings: Several plaques of squamous epithelium were noted on the internal side of the amnion.
Comments: They are characterized by yellow to whitish round to oval and mildly elevated foci on the amniotic surface with a matte aspect. Sometimes they have the tendency to coalesce and form larger plaques (up to several centimeters). These are considered an incidental finding in the placenta of cows.
