Animal: Piglet
Organ: Heart
Diagnosis: Pericarditis, fibrinous, diffuse, moderate, acute
Comment: Fibrinous pericarditis in piglets is usually part of the polyserositis caused by Glaesserrella parasuis (Glasser’s disease), Streptococcus suis or Mycoplasma hyorhinis. It may also occur in cases of porcine salmonellosis or porcine enzootic pneumonia (Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae), or with other bacteria.
